Caring for Mothers: Chiropractic Through Every Stage

expectant mother smiling and holding her belly, sitting on the bedMotherhood brings constant physical and emotional change. During pregnancy and the months that follow, the body adapts to shifting posture, changing movement patterns, lifting, feeding, and interrupted sleep.

As a mum myself, I know how much your body gives during pregnancy and how little rest there is on the other side. I aim to meet each woman where she is, with care that’s gentle, informed, and tailored to her stage of pregnancy or recovery.”

Pregnancy: A Body in Constant Change

Low back pain and pelvic girdle pain are common during pregnancy. Research suggests prevalence rates may be high across pregnancy, yet many women are not always aware of conservative, non-pharmaceutical options that may support musculoskeletal comfort and function.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is adapted to suit each trimester and individual comfort. We use mobilisation of joints to address pregnancy-related low back and pelvic girdle pain.

Support After Birth

The postnatal period places new demands on the body. Feeding, carrying, settling, and sleeping in unfamiliar positions can all contribute to physical strain. Gentle chiropractic care may form part of postnatal musculoskeletal support alongside guidance from your wider healthcare team.

Mood, Hormones, and Wellbeing

Taking time to care for your physical wellbeing may support your overall sense of balance during the motherhood journey. However, chiropractic care is not a treatment for hormonal or mental health conditions. Concerns relating to mood, anxiety, or postpartum depression should always be discussed with your GP, psychologist, midwife or obstetric care provider.
