Green Thumb – Bad Back
August 2nd, 2010 by Dalkeith Chiro
Gardening is a wonderful pass-time and a great stress release. The benefits of being out doors, getting physical and creating something beautiful are all apparent however you may have noticed that by the end of your efforts you are left with a sore back, aching arms or some other physical pain.
You’re not imagining it, according to the Chiropractors’ Association of Australian, of all DIY injuries that come through the Australian Emergency department 75% of those occur in the home environment, especially in the garden.
However this doesn’t have to be the case, many of these injuries may be avoided with simple awareness of posture. By keeping good posture and taking time to stretch between acvtivities you can help reduce the chance of injury.
Chiropractors also suggest that using the right tools, taking frequent breaks and remaining hydrated, among other things, can also help.
